Route logs and DOT cams changed my mornings

Anyone here taken a short course on traffic operations or GIS that helps with real-world route optimization? I started saving 12 minutes on my 6:40 a.m. northbound by ditching 5th & Maple for the 7th St cut-through after watching the DOT cams and timing the left-turn cycles, and I’m looking for structured learning to sharpen that kind of analysis.

I got more out of Esri’s free Network Analyst lessons than any paid class — set up a basic route model at https://learn.arcgis.com/en/paths/network-analysis/ and feed it a week of your phone’s GPX logs to build a “time-of-day” cost. I cut 9 minutes off my 6:30 northbound that way, but you’ll need a few mornings of clean traces first — want the export steps?

I’ve found that using real-time traffic apps like Waze can really help identify delays and alternative routes on the fly. It’s made my mornings a lot smoother, but sometimes it can steer you toward non-obvious shortcuts that aren’t always faster. Have you tried integrating any apps like that into your routine?
