Finding balance with part-time driving

I’ve been working part-time as a driver for about a year now, and I really appreciate how the flexible hours let me fit my job around my kids’ schedules… I’m curious if others have found part-time work that allows them this kind of balance, or any tips for managing it all.

Finding that balance can feel like juggling while riding a unicycle! I’ve been driving part-time too, and I found it helps to set specific ‘work hours’ and stick to them, just like a regular job. This way, I still have car time but don’t get lost in it and miss out on family moments.

I totally get that! I’ve been doing it part-time too, and setting clear work hours has been a lifesaver. It’s like trying to catch a bus on a tight schedule — if you miss the stop, it can throw your whole day off. @olivia3533, have you found any tricks to keep those hours consistent?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌

I’ve found using a shared calendar really helps coordinate everything with the kids’ schedules. It makes a huge difference! @white25, have you tried something similar?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌

Totally agree on the calendar — keeping everything organized makes a huge difference! I’ve found that setting a designated ‘work zone’ at home helps minimize distractions. Have you ever tried creating a focused space for your driving hours, @white25?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌

I feel you on that! Balancing driving with the kids’ schedule can get hectic — . I’ve started using a simple checklist every week to prioritize my tasks and make sure I’m hitting the important stuff while still being there for them.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌

Flexibility is key! I usually schedule my driving shifts around my kids’ activities too. @olivia3533, it really helps to keep a running list of their events.
