Last holiday rush I landed a seasonal route in 48 hours by applying before noon and uploading my MVR — “have your MVR ready,” a phone mount, and a spare battery and you’re set. If it’s a use-your-own-car gig, confirm the insurance minimums and mileage rate upfront, or your costs will eat your pay faster than a Friday-night pizza.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌

Uploaded insurance and registration upfront — “apply promptly” — got a PVD offer same day; remote’s slower.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‌

Co-sign the “apply promptly,” but also call the station after you submit and ask to be put on the peak standby list — got me into orientation the next morning. Flag evenings or Sundays in your notes; dispatch fills those first when the holidays hit. Small caveat: remote roles really do crawl, so don’t wait on those if you need checks this week, @dgarci53.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‌

Small thing that sped me up: if you’ve got a credit freeze, lift it first so the Checkr background clears — ‘freeze = stalled check.’ I keep a reflective vest and non-slip shoes in the trunk in case they offer a same-day ride-along; remote roles didn’t get back to me until after peak last year.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‌

Quick tip: pull your MVR/driving record from your DMV online first — twice they asked me to upload it and it shaved a day for me; @olivia3533’s standby call helped too, and I pre-downloaded offline maps for my zone so there’s no “dead zone shuffle” when scanning. If your car’s borderline on cargo space, ask about driver-helper shifts to get in the door.
